In the last five years, economic damage from Organized crime dropped by over a third in Germany. Most recently, it dropped 450%, there, in just one year, from 2016 to 2017.

June 21, 2018 – Long Island, NY – Suffolk authorities: Crime rate continues to drop

Suffolk County’s crime rate continued to fall during the first half this year, officials said Thursday.

Violent crimes dropped more than 22 percent during the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year, County Executive Steve Bellone said during a news conference in Hauppauge; property crimes were down 8.2 percent.

“We are seeing historic drops in crime, making Suffolk County an even safer place to work and raise a family,” said Bellone, who was joined at the news conference by District Attorney Timothy Sini, Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart and Stuart Cameron, chief of the county police department.

The release of the figures came the day after President Trump told supporters at a rally in Duluth, Minn., that his administration had “liberated” Long Island towns from MS-13 gang violence. Last month, the president had described some Long Island communities as occupied territories during a visit to Bethpage.

“It’s almost like an occupied territory where your children are afraid to go out,” Trump said in May, during a roundtable discussion on MS-13 that also included Hart and Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.

The numbers show, however, that crime in Suffolk had been on the decline since the beginning of the year and, by some measures, before that.

August 1, 2018 – Germany registers dramatic drop in organized crime damage

Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office says that economic harm from organized crime has declined considerably. But the number of crimes remained constant, and criminals are always on the lookout for new opportunities.

The president of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), Holger Münch, had reason to be pleased when he presented his agency’s report on organized crime in 2017 in Germany. At a press conference in Wiesbaden on Wednesday, Münch said that the economic damage resulting from organized crime plummeted from around €1 billion ($1.17 billion) in 2016 to €209 million ($244 million).

Part of that dramatic fall is due to the fact that 2016 was a statistical outlier. Economic damage from organized crime has been consistently falling in recent years and is now well under a third of what it was in 2013.

(Can you see how they used the more-general “plummeted“, then gave you the numbers, vs. the specific percentage of the drop? Economic damage from Organized crime in Germany dropped over a third in the last five years, and dropped 450% there from 2016 to 2017.

That shows how the positive change is increasing in speed and magnitude.

The brazen, bizarre and unsubstantiated claim is made that the same number of crimes took place, but were 450% less effective.

August 25, 2018 – Memphis, TN – Reported gun crimes drop significantly for first half of 2018

Reported crimes with guns were down significantly during the first half of this year compared to the past two years in the city of Memphis and unincorporated parts of Shelby County, according to figures from the Project Safe Neighborhoods G.U.N. (Government United for Non-Violence) Uniit.

The following crimes with guns were reported for January through June for these three years:

2,405 reported in 2018

2,840 reported in 2017

2,625 reported in 2016

That is a 15.3 percent drop from 2017 and an 8.4 percent drop from 2016 compared to the same period this year.

The reduction in reported crimes with guns is consistent with the reduction in reported violent crimes. During the first half of this year, reported violent crimes were down 8.1 percent in the city of Memphis compared to last year and down 6.4 percent countywide, according to preliminary figures from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The reduction occurred in all four major categories – murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults.
