Rising Female Death Rate

This is a continuation of a thread on the old forum.

“He was not studying medicine. He had himself, in reply to a question, confirmed Stamford’s opinion on that point. Neither had he appeared to pursue any course of reading which might fit him for a degree in science or any other recognized portal which would give him an entrance into the learned world. Yet his zeal for certain studies was remarkable, and within eccentric limits his knowledge was so extraordinarily ample and minute that his observations have fairly astounded me. Surely no man would work so hard or attain such precise information unless he had some definite end in view. Desultory readers are seldom remarkable for the exactness of their learning. No man burdens his mind with small matters unless he has very good reason for doing so.”

From “A Study in Scarlet“, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, 1881

You can tell by the three sets of quotes immediately above that the folks in charge are not your friends, and are lying to you about basically everything, including rising suicide and mortality rates.

Those increases are being driven largely by technology, although you wouldn’t know that based on the reasons provided by the wholly-controlled-and-coopted Media organs of every nation. But that’s just one man’s opinion, and you’ll have to use your personal discernment to come to your own conclusions on the matter.

However, I’m extremely cheered to report that, just of late, the rubes are getting wise to the con: “August 5, 2017 – Teen smartphone use linked to depression, suicide – researcher.” And, even stronger, “September 25, 2017 – Have Smartp/hones Destroyed a Generation?

That latter article goes on to say “I think we like our phones more than we like actual people.” … A 2017 survey of more than 5,000 American teens found that three out of four owned an iPhone. ….. The rise in suicide, too, is more pronounced among girls.

Girls, as in phone-addicted girls.

But if you think convincing people that seven consecutive years of record lobster harvests in Maine is a good thing is difficult, try telling them the phone they are so addicted to is killing them, and everybody else.

The words “mystery“, “baffled” and “puzzled” are memes, used, among numerous similar variants, whenever anyone in the wholly-controlled-and-coopted Political, Academic, Scientific and Media establishments wants to lie about, well, basically anything. Three of those variants are “surprised”“startled” and “shocked”.

That’s why one article below says “Increase in U.S. sow mortality a real mystery“, and why another says  “Death Rates Are Rising for White Americans…The results were surprising…”, and why another says “There’s a Startling Increase in Major Depression Among Teens in the U.S”, and why another says “What’s behind New Zealand’s shocking youth suicide rate?”

It’s why another says “Colon cancer deaths rise among younger adults, and no one knows why.” I guess no one but me could imagine that it’s directly under the back pocket where they keep their phones, Preciousss.

But be of good cheer – awareness is rising, rapidly and unstoppably. I heard a recent NPR radio story in which a 13 year old girl said she turned her phone off on Saturdays, because she “didn’t want to be one of those losers on their phones all day.” My 21 year old nephew and his girlfriend basically said the same thing to me the last time we were together.

We’re going to get past this, and I think it’s going to be sooner than later, based on those recent headlines I mentioned just previously.

I have said for almost a decade, now, to general laughter, that we’re going to see a return to the old ways – that high school kids are going to be going to quilting bees, and such.

Remember, when the school of fish, the flock of birds turns, they do so apparently as one.

September 9, 2017 – Teen Girls With Smartphones Flirt Most With Depression and Suicide

A spike in the teen suicide rate parallels almost exactly the rise of smartphone use, especially among teen girls, who are the most vulnerable to cyberbullying and alienation.

(Where ‘spike’ implies that numbers have shot up, but will shoot right back down again, forming a ‘spike’ on the graph – ed)

For example, feelings of hopelessness barely budged among boys, but soared upward among girls. Clinical-level depression jumped 67 percent among girls, compared to 20 percent among boys. The suicide rate for 10- to 14-year-old boys doubled in ten years—worrisome enough—but the rate for girls these ages tripled. The suicide rate for girls ages 15 to 19 is now at its highest level since 1975. iGen teen girls are suffering at unprecedented rates.

Why? There are many possible causes, but the largest change in the lives of teens between 2011 and 2015 was the sudden ubiquity of the smartphone. The percentage of Americans who owned a smartphone crossed 50 percent in late 2012. Social media went from an occasional activity to a nearly constant one, and phones went from something used to make calls to a device always there in teens’ hands.

Sure enough, in the large surveys, teens who spent the most time on screens were also more likely to be depressed or have significant risk factors for suicide, such as making a suicide plan or having already attempted suicide. Three other studies—two that followed people over time and one true experiment—found that social media use leads to unhappiness, but unhappiness does not lead to more social media use. Thus, the rise of the smartphone and social media may be at least two reasons why teen mental health has suffered so much, and so suddenly.
Not surprisingly, the smartphone era has also seen a spike in the number of teens who don’t sleep enough—and, like the rise in mental health issues, that spike has also been more pronounced among girls. With girls worrying over the latest post on social media right before bed, and with the melatonin-suppressing blue light of the smartphone shining directly into their eyes, their sleep is suffering. This might be another reason why teen mental health has faltered, especially among girls: Lack of sleep is a significant risk factor for depression.
